SKIN STUCK TO COLD METAL
Metal is an excellent conductor as well as being at the temperature of the environment.
This hazard results from any moisture, even trace amouts, present on the skin
surface coming into contact with a frozen surface. The water freezes instantly
gluing the skin to the metal surface
Prevention
- do not place bare skin in contact with the metal
- wear an inner inner glove liner
- DO NOT ATTEMPT THE DOUBLE D DARE of sticking your tongue to see what happens
- do not try slurping up spilled juice in a freezer
Signs and Symptoms
- body part is firmly attached to the frozen surface
Treatment
- the area must be warmed up to release the skin. use hot water or other means
for this to happen
- DO NOT PULL on the skin as it will be ripped off causing more trauma.
