Code of the Jungle
A Cub event or meeting is usually a place of high energy and we expect a lot of noise and activity. However, aggressive, disruptive and/or destructive behaviour towards the leaders, other Cubs, and/or property will not be tolerated. Discipline can include anything from a quiet talk to time-out. A youth may lose out on a game, an outing or an activity for negative behaviour that is not corrected after warnings have been given. If you, as a parent, have any concerns regarding discipline or conduct, please discuss this with the leaders or notify the Group Scouter, Ann Stewart.
1. Behaviour
There are two levels of behaviour that the Sixers and leaders have agreed upon are not welcome at our activities.
Level 1
Ø No swearing.
Ø Don't stick your tongue out, spit or make funny faces to aggravate another Cub.
Ø Cubs should show respect for the uniform at all times.
Ø Cubs are responsible for their own belongings as well as any borrowed equipment.
Ø No chewing of gum during meetings.
Ø Show respect for your surroundings. Everyone attending pack meetings is responsible for keeping their area neat and clean. After an event clean up and report anything broken to the leaders.
Ø No talking ugly, name calling, dissing, etc other Cubs.
Ø Pay attention and listen to leaders. Questions are always welcome as long as they are on topic. Talking back is not.
Note that a level 1 misbehaviour may be treated as a level 2 misbehaviour if the incident is serious enough (e.g. persistent swearing or verbal abuse).
Level 2
Ø Theft or borrowing without permission.
Ø Keep your arms and feet to yourself. Fighting and physical abuse will not be tolerated.
Ø Illegal activity during a Scouting event.
2. Consequences
Level 1
Ø First time is a warning and 1 point is lost.
Ø Second time is a visitation to the Bandar log corner, 2 points are lost and the Cub’s ballot for White Fang is removed.
Ø Third time results in sitting out the next game and 3 points are lost.
Level 2
Ø A minimum of 10 points will be lost. The Sixer’s council and leaders will meet to discuss the incident and appropriate consequences that may range from sitting out the next game, meeting or activity to suspension from the Pack. Parents and involved Cubs are invited to attend this meeting.
